FOSTER

THE FOSTER FAMILY MOVED FROM CRAVEN CO., NC ALONG WITH CLOSE FRIENDS, AND THE SMITH FAMILY,  INTO WHICH THE FOSTERS MARRIED INTO.

 

Generation 1

 JOHN FOSTER 1   b. in Accomack County, Virginia m. Elizabeth Sheperd.  (In 1718 William Sheperd and his wife Mary left the property to their daughter Elizabeth and her husband, John Foster, for their lives. Upon their deaths, the property went to their grandson William Sheperd Foster.  In 1742 William Sheperd Foster of Craven County, NC, having inherited the property, sold it to Thomas Smith of Craven County, NC)

  1. William Sheperd Foster, b. abt. 1716.

 

 

Generation 2

WILLIAM SHEPERD FOSTER Sr. 2  (John1), b. abt. 1716 and died bef. 1793, he married Martha Smith, abt. 1741 in Craven County, North Carolina,  dau. of James Smith.  Children of William and Martha (Smith) Foster:

  1. Bazil Foster, b. abt. 1751 married Sarah Ives.

  2. Elizabeth Foster, b. abt. 1760 m. William Sheperd Kinsey.

  3. William Sheperd Foster Jr., b. 1745.

  4. Kimmie Foster, b. 1743; married Pudence Sanderson and moved to Morgan Co., Georgia and he died in 1816.

  5. Philemon Foster, b. 1758; married 6 August 1784 Sarah Hickman.

  6. John Foster, b. 1749.

  7. Frederik Foster, b. 1755 m. unknown.

  8. Martha Foster, b. 1753; married Joseph Kinsey the 12 April 1780 in Craven Co., NC.

 

Generation 3

 WILLIAM  SHEPERD FOSTER JR. 3 (William Sr.2,  John1), b. unknown d. 3 December 1808 in Greene Co., Georgia.   He married Pheobe (Phebe) and names his children in his will:  

  1. Sally Foster, she married  Nathan Smith b. 9 March 1750/1751.

  2. Truett Foster

  3. James Foster

  4. Spencer Foster

  5. Eliza Foster, she married a Heath.

  6. Polly Foster

  7. Phoebe Foster

  8. Rutha Foster

  9. Patsey Foster

  10. Rebeckah Foster

  11. Shadrack Foster

 

 

Generation 4

  POLLY FOSTER 4  (William Jr. 3,  William Sr. 2,  John1),  married Joseph Smith 3  b. c. 1775, d. 10 Dec. 1865; on 4 December 1799 in Wilkes County, Georgia.
